SYNOPSIS   

This talk provides practical guidance on achieving financial independence through disciplined money management and long-term investing. It covers smart spending habits, avoiding lifestyle inflation, maintaining good credit, and understanding compound growth through the Rule of 72. Participants will also learn about various investment options—including EPF, fixed deposits, bonds, mutual funds, stocks, and ETFs—and the importance of starting early, living within one’s means, improving financial literacy, and avoiding investment scams to build lasting wealth and achieve a financially secure retirement.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Mr. Kong Chan Hin has over 25 years of experience in Malaysia’s oil and gas industry. He began his career as an Offshore Geotechnical Engineer with Teknik Lengkap Geotechnics (2001–2002), followed by a role as Structural Engineer at Technip Malaysia (2003–2007). Since 2007, he has served as a Construction Engineer with Shell Malaysia.

He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from UTM (2001) and an MBA from Victoria University (2019). Professionally, he became a Graduate Member of BEM in 2002 and a Senior Graduate Member of IEM in 2024. In 2026, he was appointed as a committee member of IEM's Oil, Gas and Mining Technical Division (OGMTD).
