Scholarship donations shall be divided into the following categories:
1. Individual Contributions (RM100,000 and Above)
A contribution of RM100,000 or more by any member, or by any individual willing to contribute such amount, shall entitle the contributor to have the scholarship named after them, subject to the approval of the Education Fund Board Members.
The scholarship shall remain active until the contributed amount has been fully utilised. Contributors may continue the scholarship through additional contributions or top-ups.
2. Contributions by IEM Past Presidents
IEM Past Presidents may contribute any amount below RM100,000 towards the scholarship donations.
Where the contribution exceeds RM100,000, the scholarship shall automatically be named after the respective Past President in accordance with Category (1).
The scholarship shall remain active until the contributed amount has been fully utilised and may continue subject to further contributions by the donor.
3. Corporate Contributions
Corporate organisations are encouraged to support the scholarship donations as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
A minimum contribution of RM300,000 shall be required for the scholarship to be named after the contributing company, subject to the approval of the Education Fund Board Members.
The scholarship shall remain active until the contributed amount has been fully utilised and may be renewed through additional corporate contributions.
Benefits for Scholarship Donors
The following benefits may be accorded to scholarship donors, subject to the approval and policies of the IEM Education Fund:
1. Naming Rights
Eligible donors may have the scholarship named after:
• The individual donor (RM100,000 and above)
• An honoured person designated by the donor
• The contributing company or organisation
*Subject to the minimum contribution requirements and approval by the Education Fund Board Members.
2. Recognition and Appreciation
Donors may receive:
• Acknowledgement during award presentation ceremonies and relevant events
• Recognition on the organisation’s website, annual reports, newsletters, and social media platforms
*Anonymous donations shall be respected upon request.
3. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Recognition
Corporate contributors may utilise the scholarship contribution as part of their:
• Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives
• Educational sponsorship programmes
• Community engagement efforts
*Where applicable.
4. Supporting Future Engineers
Through their contributions, donors will help:
• Support deserving and financially needy students
• Promote engineering education and professional development
• Develop future engineering talents and industry leaders
5. Long-Term Scholarship Continuity
Named scholarships may continue as long as sufficient funds remain available or additional contributions are made by the donor.
6. Tax Relief
Where applicable and subject to prevailing government laws and regulations, donors are eligible to receive tax relief receipts for their donations as IEM Education Fund is a tax-exempt account.
