SYNOPSIS
This session provides an overview of Malaysia's regulatory framework and international standards for lithium-ion battery fire safety. It covers fire risk mitigation, product safety requirements, and storage and charging facility design, while introducing tools such as CFD and Hazard Mitigation Analysis (HMA). Participants will gain practical insights into standards including NFPA 855 and UL 9540A for implementing performance based fire safety solutions.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Alan Chan Teck Wai is a Professional Engineer and registered Fire Safety Engineer (FSEr) with extensive experience in fire safety engineering, performance-based fire engineering design, and regulatory compliance.
He is associated with PBAC Engineering and has contributed actively to the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Fire Advisory Board. Ir. Alan regularly shares his expertise on fire safety legislation, performance-based design, and practical fire engineering solutions for the built environment.
