INTRODUCTION
The Centre for Corrosion Research (CCR) at UTP operates several advanced corrosion research facilities featuring one large-scale experimental flow loop, one thin-channel flow cell (TCFC) loop and two high-pressure-high temperature Hastelloy autoclave applicable for sweet service corrosion testing. The large-scale flow loop can be inclined at different angles from horizontal to vertical configuration. The loop system can simulate fluids such as gas, water, and carbon dioxide gas in dynamic flow conditions in a 4-inch diameter and 50-foot long loop to measure the pipeline steel corrosion with and without corrosion inhibitors. This serves as vital equipment as a pilot corrosion test before deploying to the actual field.
