SYNOPSIS
Disputes are a common feature of engineering and construction projects, often arising from contractual interpretation, variations, delays, extension of time (EOT) claims, payment issues, design changes, quality concerns, and differing stakeholder expectations. Effective dispute resolution is essential to minimise project delays, control costs, preserve professional relationships, and achieve successful project outcomes.
This interactive masterclass introduces mediation as an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism within the context of engineering and construction projects. Participants will gain an understanding of the principles of mediation, its role alongside adjudication, arbitration, and litigation, and the circumstances in which mediation can provide an effective and commercially viable solution.
Through case studies, facilitated discussions, and practical workshop exercises, participants will develop communication, negotiation, and conflict management skills while exploring how mediation can be applied to resolve engineering and construction disputes efficiently and collaboratively.
