International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) 2026 Essay Competition

The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) Women Engineers Section (IEM WE) is pleased to invite eligible participants to join the International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) 2026 Essay Competition. This competition aims to celebrate the contributions of women engineers and to encourage thoughtful reflections on how engineering intelligence can drive inclusive and sustainable progress in society.


Competition Theme
Engineering Intelligence in Action: Women Engineers Driving Inclusive Progress


Rules & Regulations:

•  Participation Mode: Individual competition. Participants are open to all and must be aged 18
   years and above. Group submissions are not permitted.
•  Essay Length: 750 to 1,000 words.
•  Theme: Entries must address the theme: Engineering Intelligence in Action: Women Engineers
   Driving Inclusive Progress
•  Language: All essays must be written in English.
•  Font and Spacing: Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, with double line spacing.
•  Page Layout: Use A4 paper size with 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides.
•  File Format: Submit the essay in PDF format.
•  Originality: Essays must be original, unpublished, and created solely by the participant.
•  Title Page: Include the essay title, participant’s full name, and institution/company/school.
•  Filename Format: Save the file as: ParticipantName_IWD2026.pdf

Winners Announcement: 23 June 2026


Awards and Recognition

•  One winning essay will be featured in Jurutera magazine, published by The Institution of
    Engineers, Malaysia (IEM).
•  E-certificates will be provided to all participants.

Entry Fee

Free of Charge.
