SYNOPSIS
This talk will explore the world of autonomous vehicle technology. We will begin by explaining what autonomous vehicles truly are, moving beyond the hype to a clear understanding of their capabilities and limitations. Subsequently, we will dive into the happenings in key regions of the world exploring key drivers and deployment principles. While the technology race is maybe far ahead to catch up, however the deployment and operation aspect is still very much unexplored. Thus, in this talk we will explore the opportunities that arise with the adoption of autonomous vehicle technologies.
The objectives of the talk are i. To create awareness of the autonomous vehicle happenings around the world ii. To create awareness on the opportunities of Autonomous vehicles in Malaysia.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Kumaresan, a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) with over a decade of experience, renowned as a leading strategist in autonomous mobility and smart city integration in Malaysia. Currently serving as an Ecosystem Manager at MRANTI Corporation, Kumaresan has been instrumental in shaping national level autonomous vehicle (AV) initiatives, establishing critical innovation ecosystems, and developing regulatory frameworks that position Malaysia on the global technology map. His strategic impact is best evidenced by his leadership in launching the national Autonomous Vehicle Experimental Lab (AVXL), a foundational platform for Malaysia’s smart mobility future. He architected the MRANTI AV Advisory Panel, establishing a robust governance framework that directly influences national AV policy and development.
Kumaresan's work extends from strategic partnerships and investment attraction to setting national technical standards, including the technical code for Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) System Architecture. This pioneering work earned him a nomination for the prestigious Automotive Testing Technology International Awards 2024; Person of the Year.
Beyond his industry role, Kumaresan was a former Senior Lecturer, having trained the next generation of engineers and problem-solvers using methodologies like TRIZ. Ir. Kumaresan advocates the convergence of engineering innovation, policy, and market strategy to build a sustainable autonomous future.
