SYNOPSIS

In view of the complexity and scope of GST requirements, a good general understanding of GST is required in order to understand on how the impending GST is going to affect the business operations and what must be done correctly in order to comply with GST legislations.  

The workshop will prepare you and your company for GST readiness so that you understand the tax mechanism and its application to the business which includes amongst others proper record-keeping requirements, applicable treatment to the company's products and services, likely impact to cash flow, pricing strategies, business contracts and day-to-day accounting for sales and purchases.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER – MS. YAP SHIN SIANG

Ever since she was young, Yap Shin Siang, or fondly known as Shin, has been groomed by her father to helm YYC Advisors, an auditing and tax advisory firm he and a few partners started over 30 years ago. At the tender age of 16, Shin furthered her studies in Australia which she completed her Bachelor’s Degree at University of Melbourne. Following that, she obtained her Master’s in Business Administration in University of Nottingham.

Upon graduation, Shin began her career at YYC Advisors, along with her entrepreneur brother, Yap Zhi Chau, who both hold managerial positions in the company. Shin also obtained her audit license in 2005 after practicing with the company.  As a highly-motivated and self-capable woman, Shin took over operations of the company in 2010. Apart from being a member of CPA Australia and Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Shin is highly experienced with over 10 years of professional experience in public accounting and tax advisory. Now with more than a decade’s worth of experience in the business, Shin is particularly engaged in areas concerning manufacturing, trading and government institutions.

Being the second generation in the family business, Shin’s vision is to provide innovative and comprehensive business advisory solutions to businesses in both Malaysia and across the region, at the same time bringing YYC Advisors to the forefront as one of Malaysia’s leading business consultancy. Shin distinguishes her approach in managing the company from her father by combining both Western management ideologies and Asian principles, resulting in tremendous team dynamics and a highly-capable team that have helped YYC Advisors achieve greater heights. Her innate talent in finance and accounting have helped YYC Advisors to grow its clientele base, encompassing more than 2,000 companies both local and foreign across various industries in the region.
