SYNOPSIS
This session provides an introductory overview of arbitration in Malaysia, outlining the legal framework governing arbitration and the key roles of the parties involved. It covers the fundamental procedures and processes, from the arbitration agreement and appointment of arbitrators to the conduct of proceedings and the issuance and enforcement of arbitral awards. The programme is designed to offer participants a practical and foundational understanding of arbitration, particularly for those new to the field.

BIODATA OF SPEAKERS
Brandon is a partner of Messrs. Azman Davidson & Co. Brandon’s areas of practice are in Construction Litigation and Tax Litigation. Brandon has advised and acted for employers and contractors on construction issues in various arbitration matters, court matters and CIPAA adjudications. He has also advised and acted for taxpayers in various income tax appeals in the Special Commissioners of Income Tax, High Court and Court of Appeal.
Shaun is a partner at LAW Partnership, specialising in construction law and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), with extensive experience in court proceedings, adjudication under CIPAA 2012, mediation, and arbitration. His practice covers major infrastructure and engineering projects, including MRT, LRT, utilities, power plants, and refineries. He is empanelled as an arbitrator, adjudicator, and mediator with AIAC, and as an arbitrator with the Thailand Arbitration Center. Shaun is a Fellow of CIArb, MIArb, and AIADR, and was recognised in the Legal 500 Southeast Asia Arbitration Powerlist (2022–2023).
