INTRODUCTION
The content among others are:
• An introduction to the Engineering Competency Development Program to newcomers. • A general guidance on how to be a MIEM and Professional Engineer. • Information on how ECD can help IEM Graduate Members to be a Professional Engineer.
BIODATA OF SPEAKERS
1. Ir. Razak Yakob
Ir. Razak Yakob is a Professional Engineer with a Practising Certificate and over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, specialising in drilling engineering and project management. He currently serves as the Head of the Enhanced Technical Resource Centre at FAAZMIAR Technology, where he leads research and development initiatives in upstream operations. He is also the Chairman of Ravenshead Engineering, a consultancy specialising in subsea technology. Throughout his career, Ir. Razak has held senior positions with both operators and service providers, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the industry value chain. Beyond his professional endeavours, he actively contributes to the engineering fraternity through leadership roles in the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) and the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Sunderland.
2. Ir. Dr Mah Siew Kien
Ir. Dr Mah Siew Kien is a Professional Engineer, sustainability advocate, and passionate supporter of youth involvement in STEM. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Electrical, Electronic & Systems Engineering from UKM, and a PhD in Engineering from UNITEN.
Committed to inclusive professional growth, she mentors aspiring engineers and promotes diversity in the field. She also serves on the IEM Member Application Board and as a PI interviewer. She currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Engineering at Quest International University, where she is also an Associate Professor.
