SYNOPSIS
The enhanced features of the new IEM PI 2.0 include:
• Simplified application forms • The technical report will be combined with Training & Experience report for completeness and coherence. • Professional conduct and ethics will only be tested during Oral Interview. • High achievers could be exempted from the technical essay. • Demonstration of evidenced-based (or verifiable) design, site and implementation experience will be on the Training and Experience Report and Interview.
The talk aims to brief potential PI applicants about the new developments in the IEM PI process and documentation.
BIODATA OF SPEAKERS
1) Ir. Mohd Taufik Salleh
Ir. Mohd Taufik Salleh is a registered Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (PEPC). He graduated from UTM with Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering. He is currently attached to Indah Water Konsortium Sdn. Bhd. as Chief Operating Officer.
He is also an active member of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia and is currently Committee Member of Membership Application Board (MAB) and the Sub Committee on Professional Interview Development (PID).
2) Ir. Ng Yong Kong
Ir. Ng Yong Kong is a PEPC registered with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) has a B.Eng. (Hons. in Mech.) from University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur and an MBA (Hull, UK) in 1998. He has over 40 years experience in the HVAC industry having worked as a System & Application Engineer, facilities, manufacturing and production in two major chiller manufacturers, an air diffusion and a Control company.
He is the Council member (Mechanical Representative) for the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) for 2023-2026 and Excomm 2023-2025 and is a member of IEM Professional Interview Board. He was ASHRAE Director and Regional Chair (DRC) for Region XIII 2016-2019. He is also the Council Member of the Malaysia Green Building Council 2023-2025 and a voting member of ASHRAE Conferences and Expositions Committee 2022-2026.
He was a working group member for JKR/SIRIM Standard for IEQ in Office Buildings 2021, Guidance Note on Ventilation and IAQ for Non-Residential Setting for JKKP/JKR and the MS1525-2019: Energy Efficiency and use of Renewable Energy for Non-Residential Buildings – Code of Practice (3rd Edition).
He is the Facilitator, Trainer and Examiner for the Malaysia Green Building Index Facilitator (GBIF) Course and is a frequent lecturer on HVAC System Design Course since 1990s for ACEM, IEM, JKR, JKR Sarawak and ASHRAE Malaysia Chapter.
Ir. Ng is the Director of NYKK Engineering Group Sdn Bhd. He was also the Past President for Malaysia Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Association (MACRA) 2001-2003 and is also a qualified Trainer under the HRDF since 2014.
Moderator’s Profile
Ir. Juares Rizal Bin Abd. Hamid has been for over 41+ years mostly in the oil refining and petrochemical (ORP) industry - having been in various roles and responsibilities of a line executive engineer, executive manager, consultant engineer, and company director.
• He graduated from Pennsylvania State University in Chemical Engineering and of Institut Teknologi Mara in Industrial Chemistry • He started his career as a Process Engineer/Project Management Engineer with the Petronas Group • He moved through various roles and responsibility functions within the (ORP) entities of Petronas Group - and eventually decided to be a self-employed consultant with focus on servicing projects in chemical and process engineering as well as project management • He is a Past Chairman of, both, the Chemical Engineering Technical Division and the Log Book Training Scheme (presently known as the Engineering Competency Development program) of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM).
