Introduction
Langat Sewerage Project is one of the Sewerage Non River projects under Greater Kuala Lumpur. Ânchored under the Ministry of Environment and Water. Fully implemented by Jabatan Perkhidmatan Pembetungan (JPP), the high-impact project involves building a centralized sewage treatment plant with 920,000 P.E equivalent to 207,000m3/day and laying sewage piping network of approximately 105km in total.
This project will cover the catchment area of 60.9km2. stretching from Cheras Batu 11 to Kajang. The 105km sewage pipe network will connect 1174 manholes that integrates 164 small inefficient multipoint sewage treatment plants in various housing area such as Cheras Batu 11, Desa Baiduri, Cheras Jaya, Kajang 1 & Kajang 3, including of Kajang Prison and link it directly into one centralized location that will immediately reduce multipoint of pollutant discharge into the Langat River.
Once completed, sewage within the Langat Catchment will be treated to Category 1 Standard A as per stipulated in the Environmental Quality Act (Sewerage) 2009.
