Introduction
- Discover Sustainable Engineering in Action at Putrajaya Wetlands!
Join us for an enlightening technical visit to Malaysia’s first and largest constructed freshwater wetlands. This is more than a scenic excursion—it’s an opportunity to explore cutting-edge applications in stormwater management, ecological design, and sustainable urban planning.
Engineers will gain firsthand insight into how nature-based solutions integrate with infrastructure to enhance water quality, biodiversity, and urban resilience. Whether you're in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering, this visit will broaden your perspective and spark innovation.
- A Living Laboratory for Innovation and Impact
Putrajaya Wetlands showcases a multi-cell, multi-stage system that intercepts pollutants, regulates hydrology, and supports over 250 species of flora and fauna. Designed by damming Sungai Chuau and transforming oil palm terrain into a thriving ecosystem, it exemplifies how engineered landscapes can restore ecological balance while meeting urban demands.
- From Data to Design: Engineering with Purpose
Participants will explore how measurable objectives, performance indicators, and environmental monitoring shape the Wetland Management Plan. Learn how Gross Pollutant Traps (GPTs), indigenous macrophytes, and sediment control strategies contribute to water purification and flood mitigation—offering valuable insights for engineers involved in sustainable infrastructure and environmental stewardship.
Note - Transportation provided (Departure from Wisma IEM)
