SYNOPSIS
Career as engineer in the military - to serve the King and the Nation is seem awkward as most of us thought that member of the armed forces is man of war, nothing to do with engineer and engineering works. This understanding is due to lacked of exposure or engagement on the matter with the public. To address the above thought, the speaker will elaborate the key roles of engineer in military, the career path structure and opportunity ahead, particularly in the Royal Malaysia Navy spectrum. The Speaker too would touch-on the pre-requisite requirement to be military engineers.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Rear Admiral Dato’ Ir. Ts. Hj Mohd Shaiful Adli Chung is the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Chief Engineer since 2018. He has served 33 years in the RMN of which up to 30% of his service, he served as Chief Engineer/Engineer onboard four Naval Vessels. Due to his expertise, experiences and knowledge, he has been appointed since 2017 by Bureau Veritas (BV) in Paris as a Board Member for BV Naval Ship Committee.
In marine industry, he involved directly in major schedule maintenance of RMN vessels such as refit program in local shipyard. Currently he has authored 3 books, one of it is pertaining to refit guidelines for RMN ships. With regard to project management practices fraternity, he is a qualified Project Manager and certified Project Engineer, both from Australia. Dato' Adli Chung is a passionate innovator that has invented not less than 3 new innovations, 2 of the said innovations has been patented and "commercialized".
Dato' Adli Chung holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with First Class Honours from University of Technology Malaysia (UTM), a Master Degree with Distinction in Engineering Science from University of New South Wales, Australia, and a Diploma in Strategic & Defense Studies from University of Malaya.
