SYNOPSIS

The Chemical and Process industries (CPI) have been one of the fastest-growing industries and presently are among the largest economic revenue contributors, in Malaysia. Various and increasing number of chemical engineering and technologies (CE&T) had been procured and operated upon, as early as 1914, for the industrial production of a multitude of chemicals and chemical-related products for both local consumption and export. The commercial ventures of industrial production have generated (and predictably will continue to generate) RM billions in revenue. Correspondingly but conversely, the operated CE&Ts of production, constraint by the Plant Life, will continue to depreciate – both, technically and economically – unless there are continual service intervention efforts to par maintain, sustain, and/or improve the (per design) performances of the operating CE&T facilities. A plant life cycle (PLC) management of the operating facilities will enable the planning, organizing, monitoring, and controlling of such intervention efforts to be achieved timely, within quality, and cost-effectively - notwithstanding, that such efforts actually involve the application and/or acquisition of chemical engineering knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as the transfer of technology.
