SYNOPSIS
Water sampling and analysis is done to ascertain the water quality status of a given water body. Such analysis typically comprises of physical, chemical, and biological assessment, of a wide array of parameters. While this is so, the accuracy of the analysis is highly dependent on sampling procedures and analytical methodology. While this may seem straightforward, there are many intricacies related to such procedures, which, if taken lightly, can lead to erroneous results. The aim of this talk is to give an overview of the water quality monitoring process, procedures, and related methodologies to ensure representative and accurate results. The talk will discuss sampling procedures, preservation, analysis, accreditation, their purpose, as well as examples of common errors.
