SYNOPSIS

Journal publication has been always considered as part of the important outcome for any research projects, and has always been used as the main criteria for academic promotion worldwide.  In recent years, many universities have also made publication a prerequisite for postgraduate students prior to thesis submission.  This half day workshop is presented by a world renowned academic serving as editors for several leading academic journals, who is eager to share his experiences on publication, from the perspective being authors, reviewers as well as journal editors.


BIODATA of SPEAKER

Ir. Prof. Dr Dominic Foo is a Professor of Process Design and Integration at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, and is the Founding Director for the Centre of Excellence for Green Technologies.  He is a world leading researcher in process integration for resource conservation.  He establishes international collaboration with researchers from various countries in the Asia, Europe, American and Africa.  Professor Foo is an active author, with two books, more than 80 journal papers and made more than 130 conference presentations, with more than 15 keynote/plenary speeches.  He served as International Scientific Committees for many important international conferences.  Professor Foo serves the editorial board of Trans IChemE Part B (Process Safety & Environmental Protection, Elsevier), Clean Technology and Environmental Policy (Springer), Chemical Engineering Transactions, and has recently being elected as the Principle Editor for IEM Journal.  He is the winner of the Innovator of the Year Award 2009 of Institution of Chemical Engineers UK (IChemE), Young Engineer Award 2010 of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), as well as the Outstanding Young Malaysian Award 2012 of Junior Chamber International (JCI).  He is also the 2012-13 session chairman of the Chemical Engineering Technical Division of IEM.
