SYNOPSIS

Since 2014, Standard Malaysia had send young professional who involve in International Electrotechnical Comission (IEC) works to attend IEC Young Professionals (IEC-YP) workshop which held in parallel with IEC general meeting.

IEC-YP workshop allow the voice of world’s upcoming electrotechnology expert to be heard in the international arena and help shape the future of global stadardization and conformity assessment. This year IEC-Young Professionals (IEC-YP) workshop will be held in Shanghai, China, from 21st – 23rd October 2019.

In conjuction with 5th Batch of Malaysia delegates to IEC-YP workshop, IEM EETD and Standard Malaysia would like to gather current and past Malaysia IEC-YP to share their experience gain from the IEC-YP workshop since 2014.


SPEAKER’S BIODATA

Ir. Tay Eng Chong has Bachelors’ Degree in Electrical and Computer System Engineering. He has 6 years of experience in Electrical and ELV design in building services. He is currently an Electrical Engineer in a public listed developer firm. He is also currently co opted member of the Electrical Engineering Technical Division (EETD) (2019-2020) as well as working committee of the National Working Group of ASEAN Engineering Inspectorate (Electrical Installation).

Mr. Chow Seng Chuen has Bachelors’ Degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering. He is currently Technical Lead Engineer with Gruppe Lighting Solution Sdn Bhd. He is also involves in process of R&D and laboratory testing on existing and new products.

En. Muhammad Arif Asyraf Bin Rashid has Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently Technical Regulation Engineer with Panasonic Appliances R&D Centre Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd. He daily routine is to ensures his company product compliance to IEC 60335-1. He is alo assisting test laboratory member with its testing and development activities.

Ir. Yau Chau Fong (YCF) has a total of 18 years working experience mainly in a large and reputable Consultant Firm. He has established his own M&E consultancy practice, Duriane Professionals Sdn Bhd 6 years ago. YCF has and is still playing an extensively active role in the The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia, the primary organization encompassing the professionals in engineering in Malaysia. He is currently the IEM Excomm Member & IEM Council Member for the session. He is currently chairs the AEI-EI (ASEAN Engineering Inspectorate – Electrical Installation) Steering Committee at the AFEO (ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organization) level. He is also serving in the various Technical Committees in SIRIM/DSM and also at IEC International Level serving in TC64 and IEC New Revenue Generation Committee.

Mr. Low Pek Jun received his education, Bachelor Degree in Telecommunication in 2013 and Bachelor Degree in Electrical in 2015 and completed Master Degree in Electrical Energy Management in 2019. He is currently working with NTT Inc, as Data Center Senior Engineer where he is responsible for facilities management as well as project management in the date centers.  He joined the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia in May 2015 and currently is serving as Committee Member of Electrical Engineering Technical Division and is the chairperson for Electronics & Telecommunication Working Group for EETD. He joined the International Electrotechnical Committee for Malaysia National Mirror Committee TC 64 (Electrical Installations and Protection against Electrical Shock) in 2015 and also part of Malaysia National Mirror Committee TC 20 (Electrical Cables). He is also actively involving in the ASEAN Engineering Inspectorate (Electrical Installation) as Founder/Honorary Secretary cum Treasurer Position where he assist to develop a guideline for Low Voltage Electrical Installation for harmonization the standards in ASEAN.

Ir. Dr. Siow Chun Lim obtained his Bachelor of Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Ph. D in Electrical Power Engineering from University Putra Malaysia, Selangor. His research interests include electrical grounding systems and engineering education. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Multimedia University. He is also the current Secretary/Treasurer of the Electrical Engineering Technical Division (EETD) (2019-2020) as well as the Honorary Secretary/Treasurer of the National Working Group of ASEAN Engineering Inspectorate (Electrical Installation) and is currently leading the AEI-EI’s initiative to promote awareness on electrotechnical standards amongst electrical engineering undergraduates in Malaysia.

Mr Alex Looi Tink Huey has two Bachelors’ Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Software Engineering. He is the Head of Projects for Malim Consulting Engineers Sdb Bhd providing M&E consultancy services and turnkey project management for renewable energy power plants, commercial, and industrial developments; and Head of Projects for LAJ Engineering Sdn Bhd providing electrical service contracting services; electrical installation inspection, T&C of high voltage & low voltage electrical equipment, power system studies, power quality analysis, efficient energy management, and preventive maintenance programme. He is currently the elected Committee Member of IEM Electrical Engineering Technical Division (EETD) and Chairman of the Activities Organising Committee.  He is also serve in the IEC SEG 10: Ethics in Autonomous and Artificial Intelligence Applications Committee and IEC SEG 11: Future Sustainable Transportation Committee. He is a Registered Electrical  Energy Manager (REEM) with Energy Commission, Associate ASEAN Engineer (AAE), and a Certified Infrared Thermographer.
