The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) is organising the IDEAS Innovation Competition 2026, a platform for students to showcase their innovative, design-driven, and engineering-based solutions to real-world challenges. The competition encourages creativity, sustainability, and the use of advanced technologies to solve pressing societal and environmental issues. The competition will be conducted fully online, where participants submit their competition entry as a video presentation.


VIDEO SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:  

• Duration: Maximum 5 minutes.
• Format: MP4 or any standard video format.
• Language: English or Bahasa Malaysia.
• Content: Must include clear visuals, voiceover, and explanations of the idea.
• Submission Method: Videos must be uploaded to a designated online platform
  (Google Drive, YouTube, or a university portal), and the link must be submitted
   through the competition’s official registration form.


COMPETITION TIMELINE:

• Video Submission Deadline: 31 July 2026
• Evaluation & Shortlisting: 10 August 2026
• Final Winners Announcement: 15 August 202


COMPETITION CATEGORIES:  

Participants can submit projects in the following fields:

1.  Renewable Energy & Smart Technologies
2.  Sustainable Engineering & Green Materials
3.  Digital Innovations & Smart Systems
4.  Any other STEM related topics


REGISTRATION FEES:

Individual Category: RM 100 per participant (directly register in IEM portal)
Group Category     : RM 200 per team (directly email to secretariat)


TARGET PARTICIPANTS:

• Tertiary students from universities, colleges, and polytechnics.
• Open to all engineering, technology, and STEM disciplines.


REGISTRATION & SUBMISSION PROCESS

• Participants register through the IEM website.
• Payment confirmation must be sent to the IEM secretariat.
• Participants upload their videos to an online platform and submit the video
   link via a designated submission form.
