SYNOPSIS
A knowledge-sharing session on one of the research projects conducted at the Mineral Research Centre focusing on the classification of mine effluent in Peninsular Malaysia. This study aims to identify the characteristics of mine effluent and assess water quality levels based on selected physical and chemical parameters. The research encompasses sampling methods, study areas, laboratory analytical techniques, and related data interpretation in support of more sustainable environmental management and monitoring practices.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ms. Fatihah binti Azmi
Ms. Fatihah binti Azmi is a Senior Research Officer at the Technology of Mining and Quarrying Branch, Mineral Research Centre, Ipoh, under the Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia, where she has served since 2014. She holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) from Universiti Malaysia Pahang and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia. With over nine years of experience, her expertise includes water sampling, water treatment, and dust research. Her current research projects focus on Acid Mine Drainage Treatment in Bukit Ibam and dust sampling activities at selected quarries in Simpang Pulai, Perak.
