SYNOPSIS
Rural roads present unique safety challenges due to terrain constraints, inconsistent alignment, limited recovery areas, and mixed traffic conditions. This webinar explores how Road Safety Audits (RSA) on rural roads must go beyond strict compliance with geometric standards and incorporate professional engineering judgment to manage residual risk. The session will highlight common recurring safety issues, risk-based mitigation strategies, and practical, low-cost treatments to improve safety performance. Emphasis will be placed on context-driven solutions that balance design constraints, human factors, and roadside hazard management to achieve meaningful safety outcomes.
