SYNOPSIS
In today’s complex operational environments, managing hazards effectively is not just a technical necessity—it’s a strategic imperative. This session introduces the Bowtie Analysis, a powerful yet intuitive tool that bridges the gap between technical risk assessment and high-level risk management. Designed for engineers, technical professionals, and managers, the talk will explore how Bowtie Analysis provides a clear, visual map of how hazards can escalate into unwanted events—and how existing controls can prevent or mitigate them. We’ll walk through real-world applications of the bowtie model for:
• Hazard snapshots – capturing the full picture of threats, top events, and consequences at a glance. • Hazard management – identifying control gaps, assigning barrier ownership, and integrating monitoring into daily operations. • Root cause investigations – understanding how and why control failures occur, and how to prevent recurrence.
From frontline engineers to decision-makers, attendees will gain insights into how Bowtie Analysis enhances clarity, accountability, and proactive risk control across all levels of an organization.
