SYNOPSIS

Dr. Tharek graduated from University of Strathclyde with Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Hons) in Electrical Engineering, UK, MSc in Communication Engineering from University of Manchester, UK and PhD in Mobile Communication from University of Bristol, UK. Dr. Tharek plays a keyrole in developing 5G Malaysia initiatives. He connects academia and the industry, forming effective collaborations and strategic partnerships. His engagements with Japan's 5G Mobile Communications Promotion Forum(5G MF) and Korea's 5G Forum promote knowledge transfer and collaboration in 5G Research and Development.

This programme provides an understanding of the 5G technology,architecture, key requirements, capabilities, and usage as well as the innovations behind it. It also provides an understanding of Fifth Generation Technology from the perspective of mobile spectrum and standards. The talk includes the recognition of the numerous opportunities offered by 5G as well as the issues and challenges faced in the deployment of 5G inMalaysia. The objectives of the talk are

i.   To equip participants with the fundamental understanding on the key requirements, capabilities,
     usage scenarios of 5G and the key innovations behind it
ii.  To guide participants to identify the various opportunities offered by 5G
iii. To provide awareness on the issues and challenges for 5G deployment
