SYNOPSIS
Excessive exposure to noise negatively impacts health and well-being. Environmental noise assessment and mitigation are not only limited to infrastructure projects (e.g., highway, rail, etc.). However, it also covers noise emission from outdoor mechanical equipment installed at property developments (e.g., mixed-use, commercial), industrial buildings (e.g., palm oil mills, factories), and data centers. On the other hand, vibration reduces human comfort and potentially impacts building structure integrity. Aside from the unpleasant movement, it may cause ground-borne and structure-borne noise to be radiated from the building elements to occupants in the building. This session aims to provide practitioners in environmental management and building acoustics design with an introduction to environmental noise and vibration assessment and mitigation so they can better understand and implement the Department of Environment's Guidelines for Environmental Noise and Vibration.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
