SYNOPSIS
One of the most challenging tasks in project management is handling the long lead equipment, which usually falls under the critical path of overall project schedule. Any delays and changes may have a big impact towards the overall project execution which includes cost, quality and schedule. Therefore, it is very critical to have the right competency and knowledge to handle such packages, starting from drafting the technical specification, procurement, detailed design, testing, installation, commissioning and handing over to the operation team. The webinar is intended to share the perspective as a package engineer in terms of handling the challenges faced during the project execution at various phases of the project. The long lead equipment is deemed critical; it may become another sub-project within the main project by itself, which warrants to have its own “project manager” to lead it.
OBJECTIVE
- Identify the typical project management journey in procuring long-lead mechanical packages - Appraise the expertise and competencies required in order to become an all-rounder package engineer - Analyse the associated risks in managing the long lead equipment and how to mitigate the risks - Explore the best practices within the industry
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
- Project Engineer - Discipline Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrument, Process) - Procurement Executive / Buyer - Design Consultant - Construction / Commissioning Engineer
