SYNOPSIS
Pavement quality has been a concerned by road users for many years and the Government of Malaysia too have spent billions of Ringgits only to maintain the quality of road pavement in Malaysia. Repetitions of road defects were the main reason of such expenditure. Pavement Condition Assessment (PCA) is a preventive approach of road maintenance program utilizing engineering methods to assess pavement condition and appropriate treatment /rehabilitation. The methods can be divided into 2, Functional and Structural Test. Functional Test is an assessment to determine the road surface condition using high technology such as Multi Laser Profiler while Structural Test is to assess the structural condition of the pavement using technologies such as Falling Weight Deflectometer, Coring and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer.

Ir. Hj. Ahmad Kamel bin Abdul Malik
Ir. Hj. Ahmad Kamel bin Abdul Malik graduated from Bolton University in the UK in 1990. He furthered his education in 2004 and acquired a Masters in Business Administration in Strategic Management in 2006 from International Business School, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. From 1990 to 2001 Ir. Hj. Ahmad Kamel’s work experiences were varied covering experiences in urban road improvements, construction of stadium, establishments of hospital infrastructures, construction of power station and construction of expressways. From 2001 until 2012, his work experiences became more focus in Federal Road Maintenance and specializing in the field of Road Asset Management. His position as the Senior Manager with Selia Selenggara Sdn. Bhd. encompasses the responsibility of applying Road Asset Management methods and technology application for 4,000 km of Federal Roads in the Southern Region of Peninsular Malaysia covering the States of Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Johor. His proven competency and experience in management field has made him as the Chief Operating Officer of Selia Selenggara Engineering Sdn. Bhd., a company which specializing in Road Assets Management focusing on Pavement Condition Assessment, GIS Assets management, HDM-4 Analysis and Road Assets Management (RAM) System Development from 2012 until present.
