The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia is pleased to announce that the above two Registers have been available for registration from 20 April 2002. The Institution has been authorised by the Regional and International bench marking bodies to implement the two registers. 

For the APEC Engineer Register, Malaysia has been one of the 8 founding members namely Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and New Zealand. 

The Washington Accord signatories agreed to establish a forum, to be known as the Engineers Mobility Forum (EMF) [ now re-named as International Professional Engineer Register(Int.PE)] on 29 October 1997. International Register of Professional was established by the then EMF to provide a framework for the recognition of experienced professional engineers by responsible bodies in each if the signatory economies. 

The Board of Engineers Malaysia and The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia have joint together to implement the registration of these two Registers since 20 April 2002.
