SYNOPSIS

Hazardous area is categorized as an area in which an explosive atmosphere is present, or may be expected to be present, in quantities such as to require special precautions for the construction, installation and use of equipment.

Currently, industry trend is moving towards IECEx scheme, which covers Certification to Standards that relate to Equipment, Services and Persons in areas relating to Explosive Atmospheres, to provide an Internationally accepted means of demonstrating claimed compliance with International Standards.

This talk aims to discuss the importance of proper Ex management in compliance to IECEx scheme, its application to electrical and instrument installation in the oil and gas industry, practical guidelines and prospects for job seekers.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Ahmad Fairuz Yahaya is co-founder of EXS Synergy Sdn Bhd, specialist in Ex Inspection and Management services. With 13 years of working experience, his prior careers include stints with SBM Offshore, Proceanic Engineering Services and MMHE. Mr. Yahaya completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical from UTM in 2004. He is a registered Chartered Engineer with UK Engineering Council, Chartered Marine Engineer with IMarEST and a certified PMP.

Mohd Zairi Haron is a certified Competent Professional under the IECEx CoPC scheme and Ex Responsible Person (Ex-RP) with EXS Synergy Sdn Bhd with 16 years of working experience. He graduated with Bachelor in Electrical from UITM in 2001. He is qualified with IECEx, CompEx UK coa, HA (Aust/NZ) Perth/Brisbane, IECEx and EEHA (Australian/NZ Ex) certified Trainer and Ex Consultant.
