SYNOPSIS
Malaysia is ageing rapidly, but not all will age with security, dignity, or support. This talk explores how inequities in retirement income, health and long-term care, as well as the built and social environments shape population ageing outcomes. It examines gaps in systems such as the Employees Provident Fund and the absence of a comprehensive long-term care framework, and the need for age-friendly communities aligned with national, regional and international goals. It argues for integrated reforms - combining policy, laws, finance, and technology, to build an inclusive, resilient society where all Malaysians can age well.
