SYNOPSIS
As sustainability reporting continues to shape the future of business, leaders must be prepared to understand and respond to emerging climate-related financial disclosure requirements. This session provides a practical overview of IFRS S2, focusing on climate-related risks and opportunities, governance, strategy, risk management, metrics, targets, transition planning, and industry-based guidance. Participants will gain insights into the key expectations under IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards and learn practical approaches to implementation, including common challenges and useful tips for aligning sustainability reporting with business decision-making
BIODATA OF SPEAKERS
1) Ms. Foong Ling, Chin Director of Environmental and Sustainability
Chin, Foong Ling is a Malaysian and has 29 years Sustainability, Environmental, Health & Safety consulting experience specialise in integrating sustainability in long term strategic plan to enhance corporate values. Her experience is focusing on sustainability consulting, ESG and Sustainability board advisory, sustainability reporting and disclosure, materiality assessment, climate risks assessment, ESG due diligence, bench marking, peer-review, gap analysis besides brownfield remediation, wastewater treatment plant design and large environmental programme management. She is an advocate in sustainability, embedded circular economy concept in technical design, installation, commissioning remediation systems. Chin has accomplished multinational manufacturing plants and major oil and gas downstream environmental services programmes covering 7 countries mainly in Asia. Chin is also a certified Health and Safety Officer that has enhanced her career especially in various sub-contractor and supply chain management. She thinks and practices resiliency through diversity
2) Ms. Zahirah Ooney Senior Consultant
Ms. Zahirah has acquired 15 years of consulting experience in environmental impact assessments (EIA), environmental management plans, site assessments, environmental due diligence, environmental monitoring and compliance audits and land disturbing pollution prevention and mitigation measures (LDP2M2) reports. To-date Zahirah has completed more than 25 EIA studies involving various spectrums such as commercial and mixed developments, coastal developments, hill side developments, recycling and recovery facilities including metal and plastic industries, infrastructural projects, etc. giving her an in depth understanding of the EIA requirements in the country, from scoping of the studies, identification of key issues, evaluation of assessment results, to recommendations on measures required to minimize the impacts to acceptable/ sustainable levels. Her experience covers a wide range of sectors, including industrial projects (oil & gas, iron & steel), waste projects (recovery, recycling, incinerators), infrastructure (highways, mass rapid transit-MRT), agricultural projects (plantations) and urban development (resorts, townships, mixed residential & industrial developments) and energy (hydropower and solar). She has undertaken projects for the Government and private sectors, including public-listed companies and multinational clients. Zahirah has also conducted several environmental and social impacts assessments (ESIAs) for projects across Southeast Asia such as Indonesia and Philippines, being familiar with the EHS regulations. She also conducts social workshops, reporting and deliverables such as Stakeholder Engagement Plans
