SYNOPSIS
BIM is increasingly specified in Malaysian construction projects, yet many engineers face challenges translating BIM requirements into effective on-site execution.
This technical session focuses on engineering-driven BIM execution, addressing how BIM is planned, coordinated, and applied throughout the project lifecycle. Emphasis is placed on BIM Execution Planning (BEP), Level of Development (LOD) expectations, technical coordination workflows, and constructability considerations within multidisciplinary projects.
Using Malaysian project scenarios, the session examines common execution gaps such as late BIM engagement, unclear technical responsibilities, ineffective clash resolution, and misalignment between design and construction teams. Participants will gain practical guidance on managing BIM-related risks, improving coordination efficiency, and strengthening engineering accountability in BIM-based delivery. This session is suitable for engineers seeking practical, technically grounded guidance to improve BIM execution on real projects.

Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Aidi Hizami bin Ales @ Alias
Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Br. PMr. Dr. Aidi Hizami ales @ Alias is a practicing civil engineer and academic with experience in construction management, BIM implementation, and digital construction practices in Malaysia. He has been involved in BIM-related work across consultancy, training, and applied research, with exposure to both building and infrastructure projects.
His work focuses on the practical application of BIM and digital technologies in real project environments, particularly on issues related to execution, coordination, constructability, and professional responsibility. He regularly engages with engineers, contractors, and public-sector agencies on BIM adoption, execution strategies, and workforce readiness.
He is actively involved in professional training and capacity building, delivering technical sessions to engineers and industry practitioners on BIM, project delivery, and digital transformation within the Malaysian construction context.
