SYNOPSIS
This talk highlights JKR’s BIM implementation journey in Malaysia, focusing on opportunities and compliance for the building component industry. It outlines the national BIM direction and key mandates for government projects, including Directive Letter KPKR No. 18/2020 and Treasury Circular PK 1.15. The session presents JKR’s implementation framework (People–Process–Technology), BIM maturity growth from pilot projects to nationwide expansion, and essential BIM concepts such as BIM uses, asset information and BIM dimensions (3D–7D). Emphasis is given to BIM compliance, object libraries, parameters and its impact on approvals, coordination and asset management.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Ahmad Syukri bin Bukhari
Ir. Ahmad Syukri bin Bukhari is a Senior Electrical Engineer at the BIM Unit, Cawangan Perancangan Aset Bersepadu, Public Works Department (JKR) Malaysia. With over 16 years of experience in electrical system design and public infrastructure delivery, he has been actively involved in BIM implementation for government projects nationwide since 2015. His roles include developing BIM guidelines and technical standards, ensuring project compliance, and providing strategic advisory on BIM adoption. He is also a Certified BIM Manager and CIDB Master Trainer, delivering BIM training and certification programmes for JKR and industry stakeholders.
