SYNOPSIS
Malaysia’s Shipbuilding and Ship Repair (SBSR) industry is at an important point of transition, shaped by rising operating costs, evolving market demand, regional competition, regulatory pressures and the growing need for greener, more resilient maritime solutions.
Through this topic, the AMIM President will share industry perspectives on the current realities facing Malaysian shipyards, marine equipment suppliers and supporting service providers, while highlighting key opportunities in offshore support vessels, marine logistics, defence and enforcement fleets, green technology, digitalisation and local content development. The session will also explore the strategic direction required to strengthen Malaysia’s SBSR ecosystem, including clearer policy support, stronger government-industry collaboration, talent development, investment facilitation and long-term planning to position Malaysia as a competitive regional maritime and shipbuilding hub.
