SYNOPSIS
This webinar, delivered by the Dean of the Malaysia–Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), UTM, is designed for busy engineers amongst IEM and non-IEM members seeking career advancement through postgraduate studies without disrupting their professional commitments. The session highlights flexible and industry-aligned Master’s and PhD pathways that allow engineers to integrate study with ongoing work, enhance leadership and technical expertise, and strengthen professional recognition. Practical insights will be shared on managing time, ensuring industry relevance, and maximising return on investment, empowering engineers to use postgraduate studies as a strategic tool for sustained career growth.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Nurulakmar Abu Husainl
Associate Professor Ir Dr. Nurulakmar Abu Husain is an expert in mechanical and automotive engineering, specializing in automotive safety and structural dynamics. She currently serves as the Dean of the Malaysia- Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Dr. Nurulakmar holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and has built a career grounded in rigorous technical expertise and impactful research.
She is a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers UK, and a Professional Technologist in Automotive Technology under the Malaysian Board of Technologists. Her academic foundation in Mechanical-Automotive Engineering has positioned her at the forefront of automotive safety innovation. She currently serves as the Chairman of SAE Malaysia and was formerly appointed as the Head of the PROTON Professor's Office, which links industry-academic partnerships.
