SYNOPSIS
The webinar introduces the fundamentals of construction planning and scheduling, emphasizing their importance in ensuring timely project delivery. It covers planning at the tender stage to assess feasibility and resource needs, monitoring progress to identify and mitigate potential delays, and conducting delay analyses to determine responsibility for time and cost impacts.
In addition, the session will highlight the relationship between effective planning and the IEM Conditions of Contract (IEM CoC), focusing on how proper planning practices facilitate compliance with contractual provisions related to progress, and to extension of time claims. Participants will gain insights into the importance of planning in in their regard.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Lim holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (1979) and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Wolverhampton (1996). Called to the Malaysian Bar in 2003, he has extensive experience in major construction projects, specializing in contract administration and dispute resolution, including claims under CIPAA 2012. He also co-authored updates to Halsbury’s Laws of Malaysia: Building & Construction in 2006 and 2012.
Ts. Sia Liang Wei (Keith) holds a Bachelor’s in Construction Management from USM and an MBA from Anglia Ruskin University. A Senior Consultant at Fortius Consulting, he began his career in 2014 and has extensive experience in project planning, delay analysis, logistics, and technical planning, covering all stages of construction from tendering to post-completion forensic delay analysis.
