SYNOPSIS
The current President of the Institution of Structural Engineers, Mohamad Al Dah, will discuss his journey to presidency through his three presidential themes: carbon, partnership and mentoring. From his early career refitting and repurposing buildings in London, to his recent carbon evaluation and classification of buildings in Dubai, Mohamad will also highlight the importance of mentorship and partnerships in supporting career-growth, developing world-class engineers and strengthening engineering institutions worldwide.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Mohamad Khodr Al-Dah
Mohamad Khodr Al-Dah, FIStructE, CEng, is the 104th President of the Institution of Structural Engineers. Graduating with an MEng from the University of Oxford in 2002, Mohamad then worked at Arup UK, as a structural engineer from 2002 until 2009, where he developed an interest in renovating old buildings in the UK and around the world.
Mohamad became Chartered in 2008 and a fellow in 2016. He joined Dubai Land Department in 2009 and is currently the Director at the jointly Owned Properties Department, Real Estate Regulatory Agency. He founded the Real Estate Appraisal Centre and authored the Emirates Book Valuation Standards in 2010. He also oversaw the signing of the MOU between the IStructE and Dubai Land Department in 2019.
