SEMINAR'S THEME
Railways have been central to shaping cities, connecting communities, and driving economic growth for the past two centuries. Today, as we celebrate Railway 200, we stand at a turning point: how do we ensure rail continues to inspire the future of mobility in the face of rapid urbanisation, climate change, digital transformation, and growing passenger expectations? Delivering world-class rail is no longer just about laying tracks and running trains — it is about integration across modes, ensuring operational excellence, adopting cutting-edge technologies, and building systems that are safe, sustainable, and people-centred. Engineers are at the heart of this challenge, with a responsibility to not only design and deliver but also to operate, maintain, and continually improve the rail networks that keep cities moving.
