SYNOPSIS

Artificial Intelligence is no longer a buzzword—it’s a practical tool that professionals, researchers, and businesses can use today.

This two-hour, interactive class provides a comprehensive introduction to Large Language Models (LLMs). We begin by demystifying core concepts like tokens, context windows, and the difference between open and closed-source models. You will then gain practical experience by accessing various AI interfaces and learning essential prompting techniques through hands-on exercises. The session focuses on applying these skills to real-world scenarios, including generating reports, cleaning data, and conducting academic research. We will directly compare outputs from leading models like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini to understand their unique strengths. Finally, we will explore the foreseeable future of AI, discussing trends like AI agents and deeper software integration, and conclude with a Q&A.

By the end of the class, participants will not only understand the LLM landscape but also gain confidence in leveraging these tools for their professional and academic needs. This is a practical, skills-focused session designed to turn AI from an abstract concept into a powerful assistant for everyday tasks.
