Introduction
The Klang River Basin Office (PLSK) was formally established in 2012 as part of a strategic departmental restructure embracing a lean organization model. Tasked with overseeing operations, maintenance, and repairs of completed projects within the Klang River Basin, PLSK plays a critical role in supporting Kuala Lumpur’s urban resilience through flood management and environmental initiatives.
Operating with a dedicated team of 42 professionals, the office manages both flood quantity control—notably through Project B, which covers 70% of Kuala Lumpur’s flood diversion infrastructure—and water quality improvement via landmark programs like the River of Life (RoL) under national economic transformation efforts.
Its integrated approach and historical evolution reflect the broader national commitment to safeguarding lives, assets, and ecosystems across one of Malaysia’s most vital urban watersheds.
