SYNOPSIS   

Material Engineers bear the responsibility for the development, characterization, and overall performance enhancement of materials. Given the importance of their work, it is essential that engineers adhere to a set of professional code of conducts to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the public and environment. The Material Engineering Technical Division (MaTD) has developed an IEM Professional Interview Guideline for Materials Engineers seeking to obtain their Professional Engineering status. Recognizing the paramount significance of their work, material engineers are obliged to strictly adhere to a professional code of conduct, ensuring the safety and well-being of the public. These guidelines which is in line with the existing IEM Competency Standard for Professional Interview will provide a framework of integrity, professionalism, and accountability for future engineers. The guideline will focus on the general and specialist engineering knowledge and ability for engineers to apply the theoretical knowledge for engineering solutions in Material engineering.


BIODATA OF SPEAKERS

1) Ir. Prof. Dr. Rajkumar Durairaj

Ir. Professor Dr. Rajkumar Durairaj, is currently the Dean (Academic Quality Assurance), Division of Quality Assurance (DQA) and Associate Director (Material and Manufacturing), Engineering Accreditation Department (EAD), Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). He currently the lead-auditor of university MyRA committee. He has 10 years of engineering accreditation experience and 20 years of academic teaching and research experience. He has held various academic leadership positions including Head of Department, Deputy Dean and Chairman of Accreditation Committee.


2) Ir. Dr. Mui Kai Yin

Ir. PMr. Dr. Mui Kai Yin, DJN, PKT, PJK, is a highly accomplished engineering professional, project management expert, and educator with over 28 years of experience across electronics, telecommunications, manufacturing, automotive, and construction industries. He holds a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sunderland, an MSc in Advanced Mechanical Engineering from the University of Warwick, and a PhD in Management from Atlantic University, USA, focusing on multinational employee retention and human resource management.

Dr. Mui has successfully led over 100 local and global projects, including managing the MYR 1 billion solar cell manufacturing plant project in Malaysia, which earned the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Excellence Award in 2012. He is a Fellow of IEM, ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology, and a registered APEC and International Professional Engineer.

As the Chief Project Officer and Managing Director of CAREER GROWTH Sdn Bhd, he has trained over 10,000 project stakeholders globally, conducted more than 280 PMP® Exam Prep Boot Camps, and delivered over 900 project management workshops. Dr. Mui also serves as a subject matter expert, journal reviewer for Elsevier, and mentor to aspiring engineers and project managers worldwide.
