SYNOPSIS
The talk will explore three core areas of engineering education namely curriculum design, assessment strategies, and teaching methodologies. It begins with a concise briefing on the evolving philosophies of engineering education, followed by key principles of outcome-based curriculum planning with the EAC Programme Standards 2024 as the backdrop. Finally, the speaker will dwell upon effective assessment design and engaging teaching approaches.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Dr. Siow Chun Lim received his Ph. D in Electrical Power Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching & Learning from Taylor’s University. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University, Malaysia. His research interest includes engineering education, lightning risk assessment, electrical earthing material and sustainable energy. He is a professional electrical engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, an ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer, a Human Resources Development (HRD) Corporation Certified Trainer, a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers Malaysia, and is also trained in Design Thinking and Visualisation Through Freehand.
