SYNOPSIS

This course, “Unlocking the Potential of OpenBIM,” hosted by the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) and CYPE, focuses on enhancing the digital capabilities of architecture and engineering projects in structural design, building services (MEP), energy efficiency simulation, and quantity takeoff through the OpenBIM approach. The course provides a systematic overview of how to achieve a complete workflow from modelling to analysis, measurement, and collaboration on a unified BIM platform, with emphasis on data interoperability and cross-team collaboration.

Through live demonstrations and hands-on training, participants will gain insight into the practical application of CYPE tools in global projects, including alignment with local regulations and its contribution to digital transformation in architecture. The course also highlights the potential and feasibility of the BIMserver Center platform as an open, free, EU-supported collaborative ecosystem to support Malaysia’s construction sector digitalisation.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Mr. Antonio Castell

Antonio Castell is an MSc Industrial Engineer and a key member of CYPE's Technical Department. He brings broad experience across multiple areas of construction, infrastructure maintenance, and the application of modelling and calculation software. With an interdisciplinary approach in structural analysis, MEP, and project management, he contributes to CYPE’s global growth by managing multidisciplinary initiatives involving the company’s technical team. He is experienced in the adoption of new technologies within the AEC sector, such as the Open BIM workflow.
