SYNOPSIS
In celebration of International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) 2025, themed “Together We Engineer,” The Oil, Gas and Mining Technical Division, IEM (OGMTD) and Women Offshore proudly presents a special session honouring women engineers working in the offshore oil & gas industry.
This talk aims to celebrate women offshore, showcasing their dynamic, challenging, and rewarding engineering career path. We highlight the vital contributions of women in offshore and emphasis the power of togetherness, we shall create impact, inspire the next generation, and grow a global sisterhood in engineering profession.
BIODATA OF SPEAKERS
1) Ir. Dr. Jeyanthi A/P Ramasamy
Ir. Dr. Jeyanthi Ramasamy commenced her career as a Drilling Engineer in Talisman Malaysia Limited in 2006 upon her graduation. Three years later, she joined Sarawak Shell Berhad ("Shell") as a Subsea Engineer. In June 2011, Ir. Dr. Jeyanthi Ramasamy was promoted as a Lead Umbilical Engineer and in October 2013, she was further promoted as Subsea Lead. In 2016, she joined Oceaneering International Inc as Technical Solutions Manager. She is also appointed to the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) Panel by the Board of Engineers Malaysia.
2) Febronia Shigwedha
Febronia “Nellie” Shigwedha is an offshore electrician with Southey Contracting in Namibia. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, a Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Automation, and multiple offshore certifications including OPITO BOSIET and OGUK. With experience as a former Professor of Electrical Engineering and technician at NAMDOCK, Nellie combines academic insight with hands-on expertise. She is passionate about empowering women in engineering and advancing gender diversity in offshore and industrial sectors.
