SYNOPSIS
Ajil Biofuel Sdn Bhd (ABSB) designed, built, and maintains a 2.4 MWe Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system at Top Glove’s Meru facility. This system supports Top Glove’s environmental goals by reducing emissions and using fuel efficiently—achieving 91.3% energy utilization by producing both electricity and heat from natural gas. Recovered heat is used for industrial processes, in line with Malaysia’s energy efficiency standards. The plant is highly reliable, running with 98% availability, thanks to strong design and in-house maintenance based on real-time diagnostics. A smart SCADA control system with advanced automation ensures stable operation, even during process changes. The electrical setup enhances safety and system reliability.
This CHP system not only saves energy and cuts emissions, but also provides dependable, cost-effective power for one of the world’s largest glove manufacturers.
Technical Visit Highlights:
The visit offers IEM members a chance to see a working, efficient cogeneration plant in action. It showcases how local technology can deliver energy savings, process heat recovery, and power reliability. Attendees will learn about real-time control, in-house maintenance, and strategies that support 98% uptime - offering a strong example of sustainable industrial energy use in Malaysia.
NOTE
• The visit is strictly limited to 15 participants registered on a “first-come first-serve” basis. • Participants shall bring their own hard hats.
