SYNOPSIS
Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) are immersive technologies that enchance learning and visualization, training and interactive simulations, helping users better understand complex systems and spatial relationship, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) has established their own facilities of AR & VR parked under that so called Metaverse Laboratory.
BIODATA OF SPEAKERS
Speakers : Assoc Prof. Ir. Dr Zahiraniza Mustaffa and En. Khairul Azhar
1) Ir. Dr. Zahiraniza Mustafa is an Associate Professor at the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP for more that 20 years. She obtained her PhD majoring in Pipeline Reliability from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands (2011), Master of Science in Water Resources Engineering, from the University if Alberta, Canada (2003) and Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (2000). She was an award-wining educator and researcher known for excellence in teaching and research. She recently honoured with the prestigious National Academic Award (Anugerah Akademik Negara, AAN) in Teaching (Cluster Engineering) (2022). Showcasing her ability to deliver exceptional performance. She was a former Manager at the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETaL) looking into echancement in teaching and learning pedagogies and tools. She is currently the Deparment Chair of the first and newly established programme in Malaysia, the Intergrated Engineering Department at UTP.
Khairul Azhar is a Virtual Reality expert and a Content Developer Executive at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, specializing in Graphics and Multimedia from UNITEN (2008), and a Master’s Degree in Visual Art from Universiti Malaya (2018). With experience in 3D modelling, Khairul has a strong background as a 3D visualizer in architecture firms, where he transforms complex concepts into visually compelling models. He was rewarded with the Pakar Mengajar (PAJAR) award from CIAST in 2024 and he is a Certified Content Creator, accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education in 2022. Since 2019, Khairul has been with Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETaL) where he leads the development of immersive virtual reality modules designed specifically for educational purposes. His work combines technical proficiency with artistic vision, resulting in VR experiences that enchance student engagement and understanding. Khairul has successfully assisted lectures across various disciplines in intergrating VR technology into their teaching, creating engaging learning experiences that bridge the gap between theory and practice.
