The talk will focus on recently concluded extensive research on Honey and its anti-cancer properties. Results showed the rate of experimentally induced breast cancer progression is reduced in animals in the honey treated groups compared to the positive control group. The number of tumours developed was reduced and the size was found to be smaller than those not given honey. The histological grading was also better. The mechanism by which honey exerts cancer preventive and cancer therapeutic effects is multifoil: - via improvement of immunology, haematological, serological response and _ by activation of the apostatic mechanism pathway.

1) Professor Emerita Dr. Nor Hayati Othman

Professor Emerita Dr. Nor Hayati's research interests are in cancer prevention especially on the pathology of gynaecological cancers, including the effect of honey as a cancer preventive agent. She is a globally recognized pathologist specializing in gynaecological and breast cancers. With more than 30+ years at USM, she has published more than 100+ peer reviewed papers, including seminal studies on honey’s anti-tumour effects. Together with USM Electronic and Electrical Engineering department, she invented and patented 3 AI diagnostic tools to diagnose cervical and breast cancer:

1) NeuraPap (a diagnostic software to diagnose cervical cancer)
2) DatapPaap (management system cervical cancer)
3) Neuralmammo (diagnostic software to diagnose breast cancer)

These 3 inventions won several awards at national and international invention competitions. In 2021 and 2022, University of Stanford listed Professor Dr. Nor Hayati among the top 2% scientists in the world under category " Citation Impact in Single year 2020 and 2021" in separate publication in Elsevier.

In 2022, she was conferred Professor Emerita by Universiti Sains Malaysia.


2) Mr. KC Loh

After spending years installing advanced Automation Controls of Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning Systems for offshore oil rigs in East Malaysia, Mr. Loh's life took an unexpected turn in 2017 when he made a remarkable discovery.
