SYNOPSIS
Building on Nuclear 101, this session explores next-generation nuclear technologies, starting with a recap of reactor fundamentals before diving into Small Modular Reactors(SMRs) and their advantages, commercialization status, and leading designs like NuScale,BWRX-300, HTR-PM, and ThorCon. We’ll also examine emerging technologies, including thorium reactors, micro-reactors, floating nuclear plants, and nuclear batteries such as NASA’s Voyager TEG and China’s betavoltaic battery. The session concludes with fusion energy, its challenges, and why it’s always ‘30 years away.’ Join us to explore how nuclear innovations are shaping the future of clean energy.
