SYNOPSIS
This lecture explores how engineering consultancy can mitigate fragility through knowledge management and digitalisation. Fragility arises from project risks, market uncertainties, and outdated processes, leading to inefficiencies, contractual risks, and business disruptions. Addressing these challenges is essential for enhancing resilience, efficiency, and sustainability in a competitive industry.
The lecture will define fragility in engineering consultancy, highlighting key technical, financial, and operational risks. It will emphasize knowledge management as a tool for better decision-making, innovation, and business stability, with strategies such as mentorship programs, collaborative platforms, and digital repositories to strengthen organizations.
The session will introduce the “R&D Tree” approach, demonstrating how digitalisation and knowledge management integration can drive long-term resilience and adaptability. Case studies will showcase how firms can streamline operations and reduce uncertainties through digital transformation. Finally, the lecture will conclude with a discussion on the future of engineering consultancy, exploring how firms can leverage knowledge and technology to navigate uncertainties, foster innovation, and build resilience and sustainability in an evolving digital landscape.
