SYNOPSIS
The IChemE-IEM Conference 2025 is a premier virtual event that celebrates the strengthened collaboration between IChemE Malaysia and the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), following the signing of their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2024. This three-day conference, held from 17 to 19 February 2025, will provide an engaging platform for professionals, researchers, and industry leaders to exchange knowledge and explore advancements in chemical engineering.
Each day will feature two to three insightful sessions, covering critical topics such as entrepreneurship in chemical engineering, decarbonization strategies, clean energy innovations, circular economy, and sustainable food processing. Renowned experts from industry and academia will lead panel discussions, technical presentations, and interactive networking sessions.

BIODATA OF SPEAKERS
• Ir Zainab Kayat – Chair, IChemE Malaysia 2025-2026
Ir. Zainab Kayat earned her Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UK, in 1983. With 35 years of experience, she is the Chair of IChemE Malaysia and a member of the IChemE Professional Formation Team. Additionally, she serves as the Co-Leader for SONG Malaysia and is a member of the Energy COP Leadership.
• Ir Anwar Ahmad – Chair, CETD IEM
Ir. Mohamad Anwar Bin Ahmad holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with Honours from the University of Malaya, awarded in 2005. With 20 years of experience, he currently serves as the Principal Consultant and Engineering Manager at AFNAN Engineering. He is an experienced chemical engineer specializing in process safety, risk management, and technical consultancy. Throughout his career, he has played key roles in PETRONAS, focusing on process safety engineering and technical risk assessment.
• Ir Kevin Shanta – Managing Director, Synergy Oil and Gas Engineering Sdn Bhd
Ir. Kevin Shanta obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham in 1994. With 25 years of professional experience, he is currently the Managing Director of Synergy Oil and Gas Engineering Sdn Bhd.
• M Rizal A Rahman – Custodian Process Design, PETRONAS
M. Rizal A. Rahman graduated from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He has accumulated 22 years of experience and currently holds the position of PETRONAS Enterprise Decarbonization Specialist. Additionally, he serves as the Chief Specialist in Process Engineering, Project Delivery, and Technology.
• Ir Siti Rafidah Moslim – SGM Corporate Sustainability
Ir. Siti Rafidah Moslim earned her Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Adelaide in 2000. With 25 years of experience, she is the Senior General Manager of Capability & Embedment in Corporate Sustainability at PETRONAS.
• Peter Godfrey – Energy Institute
Peter Godfrey holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Management Sciences from The University of Manchester, awarded in 1983. With an extensive 35-year career, he is currently the Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region at the Energy Institute.
• Ir Dr Viknesh Andiappan – Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak
Ir. Dr. Viknesh Andiappan completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Nottingham in 2013. With 12 years of experience, he is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Computing, and Science at Swinburne University.
• Dr. Santosh Mishra - University of Allahabad
Dr. Santosh Mishra obtained his Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry from the University of Allahabad in 2000. With 25 years of experience, he has made significant contributions to his field.
• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zaki Yamani Zakaria – Deputy Director, Research Management Centre (RMC)
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zaki Yamani Zakaria holds a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours from the University of Bradford, awarded in 1999. With 26 years of experience, he is an Associate Professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
• Prof. Ir Dr. Nor Aishah Saidina Amin – Head, Chemical Reaction Engineering Group (CREG), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia
Prof. Ir. Dr. Nor Aishah Saidina Amin earned her PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, USA, in 1996. With 29 years of experience, she is a Professor of Reaction Engineering and the Head of the Chemical Reaction Engineering Group (CREG) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
• Ir Dr Suzana Yusup – Professor of Research & Acting Head, Generation Unit, Tenaga Nasional Berhad Research (TNBR)
Ir. Dr. Suzana Yusup completed her PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bradford, UK, in 1998. With 25 years of experience, she is a Principal Researcher and currently serves as the Acting Head of the Generation Unit in the Department of Generation and Environment at Tenaga Nasional Berhad Research.
