SYNOPSIS
Water supply pipeline systems range from a very simple layout to very large and complex distribution networks. In the earlier days, engineers had to work manually to do all engineering design. Nowadays as the costs of the computer hardware and software are now affordable, more and more engineering computations are being replaced by software. Whilst the “older” generation of engineers would appreciate the availability of engineering software, this could NOT be said of the young engineers. Their appreciation is on the dependency of the software hence they will start to lose out the concept and theory of water pipeline design. One of the disadvantages of computer technology is that the young engineer cannot get the “sense” of design and would not know which pipe is critical pipe in the design The goal of this course is to cover all concept and theory in water supply design and the common practice in water supply design. The younger engineers may then develop a sense of pipe sizing and critical points when using software. And also to show engineers how to verify computer design output. A chapter of MSMA2- rainwater harvesting will be cover on piping system. Working examples to be presented to illustrate the design computation in manual and computer mode.
BENEFITS
This course is suitable for engineers who intend to: - Improve knowledge in water supply design in branches and loops system. - Understand the basic behind water supply computer program. - Verify computer output. - Design water supply manually.
Requirement: Scientific Calculator
BIODATA OF THE SPEAKER
Currently, Engr Chee Shai Choon leads a group of software developers in C & S Software Solutions Sdn Bhd, MSMAware Sdn Bhd and Infravera Sdn Bhd. He is the developer of the Infravera software for Earthworks(Earth+), Urban Stormwater Design(Storm+), Water reticulation(Aquator), drain (Drain+), sewer network(Sewer+) and MSMAware. In developing civil engineering products, he has gained in-depth knowledge of the design process involved and would be able to share his knowledge and experience with participants
He is a civil engineer with good technical knowledge in engineering concepts. He has accumulated 18 years of his experience in field of IT and engineering design.
He had conducted talks/training in various organizations like IEM, JOS in JPS Ampang, Wawasan Professional Training Centre in KL. Last event (Oct 2013) was a seminar of “2-Day Hands-On Workshop on Urban Drainage Design based on JPS MSMA guidelines” in KL organized by ACEM.
